Thursday Thirteen #1

Thirteen Reasons I Like Living in the South:

1. The scent of honeysuckle on a summer breeze
2. Fried chicken, fried okra, fried catfish, corn fritters, hoe cakes, grits...
3. The beverage of choice is Iced Tea- sweetened, of course!
4. Southern Hospitality
5. When someone asks you, "How ya' doing today, honey?" they really mean it.
6. We name our high schools and highways after Southern heroes such as Robert E. Lee, Martin Luther King Jr, and Elvis
7. If you don't go to heaven it's your own fault, 'cause there's a church on every corner
8. Patriotism is still in style
9. SEC Football
10. The tiniest bit of snow is worthy of canceling school to celebrate
11. Graceland (ok, not really...)
12. Dogwoods in April
13. Being "Politically Correct" means saying "yes, ma'am" and "no, sir"

I love your post seeing as I'm a southern gal from NC. The other thing I love is whenever someone says something negative about someone else, it takes the sting out when they finish the sentence with 'Bless her heart".

My TT is up also on my 13 reasons I hate being a middle child.

Hi Sandy,
Thanks for stopping by my blog and for the email. It's always nice to *meet* another blogger in the area. Your blog design is really nice. I'm starting to think I'd like to have a pro do mine. I'm tired of trying to figure it all out!

I grew up in Texas and we had tons of honeysuckle everywhere, it was great !!
I buy Yankee candles in honeysuckle and it's pretty close to the real thing !

Don't forget fried twinkies, fried oreos, fried turkeys and fried pickles. I'm sure all of those things originated in the south as well, we just like to fry. Hot grease and iced sweet tea.
