One of the wonderful things about nursing my babies is that they were close. There is a special intimacy between a mother and her nursing baby. We gazed into each other's eyes for long, precious minutes, and when they got older, they would use their free hand to caress and explore. Occasionally, if naptime were near, they would "sing" themselves to sleep. Those were sweet moments, and Mary Cassatt captures them perfectly.

I love Mary's work also! her paintings are reflective of the beauty of the home and simplicity.
She is one of my favorite artists as well. I love how well she captures the bond between mother and child.
My favorite part about that pictures is how she is holding her child's foot. Seeing that made me a little teary and immediately took me back to my nursing days.
This totally reminds me of our daughters nursing their babies during the last year. And of myself doing it many years ago too. Thanks for introducing me to Mary Cassat!
I have always loved her work and visit her paintings in DC and Ny.
As for the nursing...I can't comment as I did not have children!
