In Other News...

For anyone who could care less about my weight loss attempt (would that be everyone?) here's the other (also mostly boring) stuff I've been up to:

I've cleaned out both the little boys' room AND the big boys' room. This is no small feat! I took two huge trash bags out of both rooms, plus two big bags of toys out of the little boys' room. You can see their carpet now (which is not really a good thing) and you can walk without injuring yourself or stepping into a biohazard. Now I'm in the process of resorting the bookshelves, since I've found several encyclopedia and a bunch of other missing books.

I've been practicing my fingers off for my first "real" piano lesson this week- last week we talked more than I played. I guess I have something to prove, being a music major and all... I just don't want to make a fool out of myself! I'm enjoying it, and I'm feeling rather pleased with myself, but we'll see how long that lasts. An added benefit of all this practice is that one cannot play piano and eat at the same time :-). (One can sit at the computer and eat, however, as evidenced by this plate of beignets sitting next to me... John has got the cooking bug this week and when your husband cooks for you, you do not say, "Sorry honey, I'm on a diet!) And speaking of cooking, we are enjoying the first-fruits from the garden. Every day John brings in a new squash, zucchini, tomatoes or a cucumber...mmmm!

John Mark and Becca are at camp this week and today, Benjamin went to a one-day Space Camp. The house feels very empty with only three kids, and it's very quiet without John Mark and Philip constantly badgering each other. John has been waging a vendetta against the squirrel colony in our back yard... but we won't go into that. I've been working on my syllabus for the fall, and I got so sick of Ancient Egypt that I had to take a break. I'm ready to dive back in again.
