When the kids opened the front door this morning, John Mark exclaimed, "Wow- it looks like a fairy tale out here!" And it did. The rain left a mist hanging in the air, and almost overnight, the Forsythias, Bradford Pears and Daffodils began blooming. Everything is a fresh, new shade of green, including our generally not-so-gorgeous lawn turf. Even our "ugly bush" out by the driveway has begun blooming. (For two weeks out of the year, it is pretty. The rest of the year, it is just an ugly, strange-looking bush. I'll post a picture once it reaches its full glory.) Spring is always full of excitement; never the same thing from one day to the next. I was inspired to make a list. I like lists. Feel free to add to it!Top Ten Things I Love About Spring
(in no particular order)
- Blooming flowers and trees
- Warm sunny days (preferably with no humidity)
- Pleasant evenings on the porch
- Sandal Season- no more yucky kid socks all over the house
- Yard Sales
- Robin nests full of baby birds in the ferns on our front porch.
- No more coats, gloves, mittens, hats, scarves, earmuffs, snowsuits, snowboots (and yucky socks)
- Having the windows open all over the house and the temperature is "just right"
- Clothes fresh off the clothesline
- Easter
- Getting the grill going again
- Picking out new flowers and vegetables to plant
- Freshly mulched landscaping
- The Dogwood Trail
(I know there are more than 10... there is so much to enjoy, I couldn't stop! I think God must feel the same way. How else can you account for Spring?)
Top Five Things I Dislike About Spring
- Tornadoes
- Mud
- Cold day, hot day, cold day, hot day....
- Spring laundry: winter clothes mixed with summer clothes for five kids makes for LOTS of clothes lying around the house and LOTS of laundry to do!
- Well... there isn't a 5. Makes it official: there's just an awful lot to like about spring!

i was just thinking that about early spring laundry today!! i 've been having to go through everyone's drawers and closets to cull out winter and add spring clothes. it looked pretty pitiful to think we have that many clothes in this house!!! now it is done. all the winter is packed away save that extra warm outfit or two that we may need for that unexpected cooler day. for the most part now we can atleast expect that a t-shirt and blue jeans will suffice even if it is cool with a jacket over it!!! spring time in texas is beautiful. it is the only time of year you actually like to go outside. it is in full swing now. but for some reason, i still miss paducah and nashville when spring time rolls around. we will be at church at reidland april 9th. i can't wait to see you and your crew! love you,

i would also add to your list of loves of spring the daylight is lasting longer. you can stay outside (or send your kids out) for longer!!!
