That about says it. John and the kids arrived home today around noon. Yes, the thunderstorm got them, but not until they had already turned in for the evening. We never scotchguarded the new tent, so they got a little wet, but not much. The camp stove refused to work, requiring some creative fire starting in a wet fire pit at breakfast time, and the fishing wasn't so great, BUT the campsite was great, the view was even better and a good time was had by all. John said he was glad I wasn't there. Hmmm... can't imagine why not!
John Mark brought his new archery set on the trip (a Christmas present from mom and dad)
While the big kids were camping with dad, the little ones got to camp too... in the living room. Dad gave them each their own flashlight and eventually I figured out how to get their tent together for them. There was much excitement. They filled the tent with their blankets, pillows and assorted stuffed animals and watched videos until about 9:30 when they informed me that they were tired and were going to bed. Wow! Is that all it takes?
The rest of the day will be spent airing out wet tents and sleeping bags, and with any luck, we'll get the Christmas stuff all back in the garage for a long summer's nap. All in all, it was a pretty good adventure to begin the new year!

I can't believe your kids are getting so big! I saw you Sunday when I was at Reidland, but didn't get a chance to say hello. I'm glad to hear all is well!! Hope 2006 is a great year for you all!
